January – a time for new beginnings
As we kick off 2026 in the feed department at St. Ansgar Mills it brings about some goal setting for not only us but for our customers. Some of the goals we have here as a team remain the same every year – superior customer service, manufacturing the highest quality feed possible, and timely deliveries. The team has worked on some individual goal setting and some new goals as a team to not only improve the quality of service we provide but also some goals in terms of growth.
Now is also the time many of our customers are looking at 2025 numbers and setting some goals for 2026. Whether those goals are adding pounds to weaning weights, reducing death loss, improving conception rates, or any other measurable goal we have solutions to help you achieve those goals and would love to sit down with you and help you achieve those goals. Our success is completely dependent on the success of our customer and it is our goal to help you achieve the success you are aiming for.
Winter weather and the crud
This has been an unusual winter with the amount of wet weather we have had. We are seeing an unusually high number of respiratory issues with cattle and even seeing some hoof issues that we normally don’t see in the winter. One of the best ways to combat these things is always prevention whether it is bedding sheds more often or incorporating products into the diet to boost the immune system. One of the best ways to prevent issues is incorporating ZinPro into the diet of your livestock, many of the Kent products already include ZinPro and it is research proven to improve immune function and hoof health.
One of the best treatments for cattle has always been CTC crumbles and we have had quite a few customers running some crumbles through their calves. As a reminder using CTC requires a VFD, we cannot sell you CTC without a valid VFD on file. For those that have never had to get a VFD before it is a pretty simple process to work with your veterinarian to have them issue the VFD and email it to us, typically most vet clinics will get the VFD to us the same day that you call them and we can get you the CTC as soon as we have received the VFD.
Employee Spotlight – Chris Titus
Chris has been with St. Ansgar Mills for a year. He started out delivering feed and has become a jack of all trades around the feed mill. Some days you will find Chris batching feed and waiting on customers, some days he will be out delivering and some days you will find him working on some maintenance projects around the mill. Chris was an owner operator hauling livestock before he came to work at St. Ansgar Mills and brings a lot of valuable experience to the team. Chris and his wife Alexis have an acreage between St. Ansgar and Mitchell where they have livestock and raise 4 kids.
